Building a Better Shelter

For nearly five years, the MHF Board of Directors has been working with the Fauquier County to build a new, state-of-the-art equine rehabilitation and animal rescue facility on a 23-acre parcel of land on the western side of Marshall, just two miles from our Whiting Rd. location.

Construction of the equine barn, facility storage enclosures is complete, and the main facility was completed on September 10, 2019 and the facility was opened to our animals on September 24, 2019. Our Grand Opening of the new facility was on October 27, 2019.

We are excited to give you an update on the progress of construction Middleburg Humane’s new, modern facility on the west end of Marshall at route 55 and Cunningham Farm Road.   The new facility will include an 10,000 square foot main shelter building, a stable, equipment shed and 15 acres of pasture and turn out areas.

The builders are working on the interior. We are thrilled to show you these pictures. We hope to hold an open house in the fall, after we settle in and get used to our new routine.
